yarnalong_gsheller_grayIt's Wednesday and it's Yarn Along time again with Ginny. On Wednesdays fiber craft bloggers get together and share what they're reading and knitting.

I haven't been writing a whole lot. The babies have been getting harder to cope with. The older one is getting into everything. He was supposed to be napping the other day and instead he got into a whole tube of diaper cream, which he had applied to his whole face.

The younger one is learning to walk and also learning to fall and that requires a lot of soothing on my part, not to mention that he's an epic nurser who prefers breastmilk to solid food.

However, I have managed to get some time away from the kids to do some actual knitting.

I'm still working on the Amari Shawl, which I'm enjoying immensely. It's so simple that it doesn't scramble my brain when I try to knit it. I can easily pick it up and put it down as I get interrupted by babies. The Alpaca Melange is so soft that it feels luxurious to knit. I can only wonder how wonderful it will feel when it's finally finished.

I'm also reading Interweave Knits Fall 2011 edition from last year. There are so many great projects in this issue. I think it's a classic. I'm suppressing the start-itis, if only because I'm determined to use the right yarn for the project. I'm sick of my knitting projects coming out funky because I'm using an innappropriate yarn.

I'm still working on the next installment of the Interchangeable Knitting Needle Guide. I've started playing with the Denise Interchangeables. I'm hoping to have it out this weekend. :)

What are you knitting and reading? How do you knit with young children around? Let me know in the comments.
